Multifamily Building Decarbonization Program

Multifamily Building Decarbonization Program

Decarbonizing your multifamily property isn’t just an environmental choice, it’s a smart way to help reduce operating costs, improve building performance, and property marketability. By upgrading to high-efficiency electric systems, you can enhance resident comfort while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

Atlantic City Electric’s Multifamily Building Decarbonization program supports your transition with financial incentives and technical expertise, helping offset equipment and infrastructure costs, including panel upgrades.

Incentives

Incentives are available for both in-unit equipment owned by the property—such as water heaters—and improvements made across common areas or entire buildings.

Electric Ready - Income Qualified

Panel Upgrades

Per dwelling unit

For Income Qualified customers, full cost up to $4,000 to upgrade a panel, only when installing BD measures. The upgrade shall include enough capacity to support the needed upgrades and a Level 2 EV charger, where possible. $2,500 for wiring, only when installing BD measures.

Electric Ready - Non-Income Qualified

Panel Upgrades

Per circuit/panel

For non-Income Qualified customers, up to $300 per circuit for each BD measure requiring a 240V circuit purchased under the program, up to four circuits.

Or, $300 for a panel upgrade, only when installing BD measures. Financing up to $2,000.

Program Eligibility

To qualify, your project(s) must include the following:

  • Replacing fossil fueled systems (gas furnace, oil boiler, gas water heater, etc.)

  • Documenting existing conditions (manufacturer, model number, efficiency, age, photos, and specification sheets, if available)

  • Integrating controls if fossil fueled backup systems are retained

The program requires customers to work through an approved Building Decarbonization Trade Ally.
