Building Tune-up

A Building Tune-Up ensures your building systems are operating at peak efficiency.

The Building Tune-up offering is designed to re-tune your building’s existing mechanical, electrical, and thermal systems with the goal of enhancing them or returning them to their original functionality.

With a Building Tune-up, your business can:

  • Receive financial incentives for optimizing and fine-tuning your existing equipment
  • Optimize the life of existing equipment
  • Increase operational energy and demand savings

Building Tune-ups include:

  • Lighting Optimization
  • HVAC Optimization
  • Chiller Optimization
  • Refrigeration Optimization
  • Electric/Other Optimization

Incentive Rates

  • Atlantic City Electric offers incentives that cover up to 80% of the project with rates ranging from $0.32-0.64/kWh depending on the measure.

Eligibility

  • Incentives are available to all Atlantic City Electric commercial customers
  • Facility must have mechanical, electric and thermal systems with existing functional controls.
  • Functional existing building automation system is recommended.

Tune-up Offerings

Building Tune-up accordions

Adjust existing lighting controls and systems to improve energy efficiency. This includes fine-tuning scheduling, occupancy sensor settings, daylight harvesting calibrations, and adjusting light levels (dimming or reprogramming).

Examples include but are not limited to:

  • Reprogramming lighting control panels for better schedules (e.g., reduced evening operation).
  • Adjusting daylight sensors for optimal response.
  • Tuning occupancy sensor time delays and sensitivity.

Lighting optimization measures will be incentivized at $0.32/kWh up to 80% of the project cost.

Calibrate and adjust your HVAC systems to improve operating efficiency. This includes rebalancing airflows, resetting economizer controls, fine-tuning ventilation rates, and optimizing zone temperature control settings.

Examples include but are not limited to:

  • Calibrating thermostats and sensors.
  • Reprogramming economizer controls for better free cooling.
  • Adjusting ventilation based on occupancy patterns.
  • Installation of new HVAC units, economizers or controls and repairs to existing HVAC equipment or controls are not eligible for incentive.

HVAC optimization measures will be incentivized at $0.64/kWh up to 80% of the project cost.

Adjust your chiller system settings and controls to improve part-load performance and overall system efficiency.

Examples include but are not limited to:

  • Resetting chilled water supply temperatures based on load.
  • Optimizing sequencing of multiple chillers.
  • Calibrating flow meters, temperature sensors, and control valves.
  • Installation of new chillers, variable frequency drives (VFDs) or controls hardware and repairs to existing chillers, VFDs or controls are not eligible for incentive, for example.

Chiller optimization measures will be incentivized at $0.64/kWh up to 80% of the project cost.

Calibrate and adjust your refrigeration system controls to reduce energy use while maintaining performance.

Examples include but are not limited to:

  • Fine-tuning defrost cycles.
  • Calibrating temperature setpoints and sensor readings.
  • Adjusting suction pressure settings for compressors.

Refrigeration optimization measures will be incentivized at $0.64/kWh up to 80% of the project cost.

Adjust and calibrate your other electrically driven systems in the building to enhance efficiency.

Examples include but are not limited to:

  • Recalibrating variable frequency drives (VFDs) for pumps or fans.
  • Tuning building automation system (BAS) settings for optimized equipment schedules.
  • Adjusting motor controls to better match operational needs.

Electric other optimization measures will be incentivized at $0.64/kWh up to 80% of the project cost.

Installation of new systems, equipment, or controls and repairs on existing equipment are not eligible for incentives under this program. Such repairs and replacements or upgrades must be handled through RCx or MBCx, Engineered Solutions, Prescriptive or Custom programs.

How to Apply

Getting started is simple. Either contact one of our approved Trade Allies, or if you already have a contractor, you may use them for your Building tune-up. You or your Building Tune-up provider will submit the application via the online application portal.
