Less Energy Waste. More Robot Championships.

Founded in 1989 by five committed police officers, the Egg Harbor Township Police Activities League (PAL) was built on a simple idea: bring youth, police, and community closer together.

Today, more than 2,000 kids across Atlantic County take part each year—through sports, social programs, STEM, engineering, trades discovery, and competitive robotics—making PAL the township’s largest youth organization. And with that kind of impact, they can’t let building upgrades slow them down.

The Opportunity

With a 35-acre campus and nearly 47,000 square feet of space, PAL had two buildings that were on the older side and in need of upgrades.

The Upgrades

New HVAC, lighting, and multiple large heat pumps were essential for a classroom building called “Area 51” that houses their robotics and other STEM programs. They were also looking to upgrade their recreation building—including lighting, HVAC, water heating, and more.
Hector Tavarez, Executive Director at PAL, heard of Atlantic City Electric’s program through All-Zone Heating and Cooling who then took over the project. They made the process easy and seamless, so
activities never missed a beat.

The Results

When the work was done, people noticed. The kids had better lighting. They were warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer—and it all cost PAL less to run.
The upgrades also allowed PAL to rent the smaller building that was sitting empty since they moved to their two new buildings three years ago. They not only saved paying the utilities but now had a tenant paying them rent.
