Retro-commissioning (RCx)

The Retro-Commissioning (RCx) offering helps large commercial and industrial customers enhance the performance of their building automation and control systems. By identifying and implementing measures that restore mechanical, electrical, and thermal systems to their original or improved design, RCx ensures optimal efficiency with reduced energy consumption up to 15%, functionality, and an improved building environment for occupants.

Eligibility

  • Incentives are available to Atlantic City Electric commercial and industrial customers with a minimum average peak demand of 300 kW. Inquire about exceptions.
  • Recommended facility size of 50,000 square feet or greater.
  • Facility has not been commissioned in the last 3 years and is not a new construction or a gut rehabilitation.
  • Functioning existing building automation control system is highly recommended.
  • Project has potential for significant energy savings; with agreement the customer will implement all upgrades that have an 18-month payback or less.

Customer Incentive

$0.16/kWh and $2/therm, capped at 70% of measure implementation cost. The customer implementation is paid at M&V.

How to apply

Customers must work with one of our approved Trade Allies in the program. The Trade Ally must perform an energy assessment and deliver an Investigation Report outlining Retro-Commissioning measures that re-tune your existing mechanical, electric, and thermal systems.

Some examples of RCx measures are:

  • Equipment scheduling
  • Water temperature reset
  • Night setbacks
  • Sensor calibration or replacement
  • Valve actuator calibration or replacement

The RCx program can cover up to 100% of the Trade Ally services.

Capital improvements, such as new variable frequency drives, lighting retrofit/controls, system redesign, etc. can be identified through this offering, but must apply for incentives through the Prescriptive/Custom program.
